Metaversum Takes 16 Square Miles of the German Capital to San Francisco with Twinity
At the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, Metaversum will be giving a fascinating glimpse of real life in virtual Berlin with Twinity.Berlin, 25 March 2009 – Berlin relocated to downtown San Francisco. Twinity is turning this vision into reality at the Web 2.0 Expo, running from 31 March to 3 April 2009 in the US. The Berlin Partner GmbH trade stand in San Francisco will give visitors the chance to explore virtual Berlin. A whole 16 square miles of the realistic 3D replica of Germany’s capital can be entered and experienced in person.
World-famous monuments and sites like the Brandenburg Gate, the Alexanderplatz, the center of what was once East Berlin, or the popular Hackescher Markt shopping district have been lovingly rendered true to scale. What is more, the realistic cityscape is gradually becoming populated by more and more so-called Twinizens, who are bringing the city to life.
If you sign up for Twinity membership during public Beta, you will be among the first influx of city dwellers, whose pioneering spirit is helping shape the city. There is a real person behind each and every Twinizen, which means you are chatting and interacting with real people. The focus of Twinity lies on sharing real experiences – visit exhibitions with newfound friends or party the night away in the city’s most happening clubs. It’s always more fun to go on a sightseeing tour, attend a book reading, or enjoy great music in good company.
“Twinity’s highly realistic and inhabitable 3D replicas of international metropolises enable these cities and local business to communicate and interact with the rest of the world in a radically different way. At the Web 2.0, Berlin shows itself to be a pioneer in the field and displays the true potential of the 3D web. Visitors to the trade stand we share with Berlin Partner GmbH can find out more about Berlin and engage directly with its residents,” explained Dr. Mirko Caspar, CMO of Metaversum GmbH.
